The PGT PLO Series became a fixture of the PGT schedule starting in 2023. Right out of the gate, it was very apparent how popular the series was, with a record-breaking field size in the very first PGT PLO Series event. Opening the first-ever PGT PLO Series was a $5,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha tournament, and it attracted an outstanding turnout of 200 entries to become the largest-ever field size for an owned-and-operated PGT event in the PokerGO Studio.

At the very first PGT PLO Series, which took place in March of the 2023 PGT season, Spain's Lautaro Guerra crushed. Guerra cashed three times—and won each tournament he reached the money in. Guerra won Event #5: $10,000 PLO for $220,400, Event #7: $15,000 PLO Bounty for $228,000, and Event #8: $25,000 PLO Championship for $518,750. All told, Guerra won $967,150 in earnings and announced himself as one of the best PLO players in the world.

In the second half of the 2023 PGT season, another lesser-known PLO specialist made a name for himself and captured headlines. This time it was Daniel Geeng becoming the series champion after one win, four cashes, and $703,160 in total prize money. Geeng placed 11th in Event #2: $7,500 PLO Bounty, 14th in Event #3: $10,000 PLO, second in Event #4: $15,000 PLO Progressive Bounty, and then he won Event #9: $25,000 PLO Championship. At the time, Geeng's runner-up finish in Event #4 was his largest-ever live tournament score, and then he one-upped himself by winning the series' championship event for $487,500.

Finland has long been known to produce some of the world's most fearless and ferocious PLO competitors, and it was an elite Finnish player taking the series title in the first edition of the PGT PLO Series in 2024. Samuli Sipila showcased his dominance on the high-stakes stage with two wins, four cashes, and $776,140 in prize money at this series. Sipila won Event #4: $10,000 PLO for $240,300 before he went on to finish seventh in Event #6: $10,000 PLO. Sipila won his second trophy of the series in Event #7: $15,000 PLO Progressive bounty for $159,840 plus $239,000 in bounties, and then placed second to Seth Davies in Event #9: $25,000 PLO Championship for $342,000.

Matthew Wantman cashed six times in nine events at the second PGT PLO Series in 2024. He had one victory on his way to winning the series title. The win came in Event #3: $5,000 PLO, where Wantman topped a field of 155 entries to win $178,250. His other in-the-money finishes were ninth in Event #2: $5,000 PLO Progressive Bounty, fourth in Event #4: $10,000 PLO, 11th in Event #5: $15,000 PLO Progressive Bounty, third in Event #6: $10,000 PLO, and seventh in Event #9: $5,000 PLO Bounty. Wantman's one win and six cashes earned him a total of $434,380, and he won the leaderboard by narrowly edging out Jeremy Ausmus for the top spot.
