The seventh installment of the U.S. Poker Open will be the fifth series of the 2025 PGT season. The U.S. Poker Open will run from April 8-17, 2025, and will be held inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The eight-event schedule is a No-Limit Hold'em series with buy-ins ranging from $5,100 to the $25,200 finale, with all events playing down to the final table of six. Those six players return the following day to conclude play on PokerGO.com. Each event will allow players a maximum of two reentries, and players in the registration line before the scheduled start time will receive a discount on rake on their first entry.

The PGT shot clock will be active during the U.S. Poker Open, with players having 20 seconds to act on their hand preflop, and 30 seconds postflop. Time extensions are worth 30 seconds each, regardless of which street they are used. In the $5k buy-in events, players will receive six time extensions before the first break, and four thereafter. In the $10k and $15k buy-ins, players will receive eight time extensions before the first break, and six thereafter. In the $25k finale, players will receive 10 time extensions before the first break, and eight thereafter. Additional time extensions are distributed to players in the money if the field reaches 71 entrants. The final seven players will also receive six additional time extensions.

Following a debut in the PGT PLO Series, new for the U.S. Poker Open is an adjustment to the level lengths. Event #1 will be 30 minutes throughout the tournament, while Events #2 to #5 will be 30-minute levels until the start of Level 13, where they will be increased to 40 minutes. Events #6 and #7 will be 30-minute levels until the start of Level 9, where they will be increased to 40 minutes. Event #8 will be 45-minute levels throughout the tournament, and registration ends at the start of Level #7 following the omission of Level 4 and 8 from the structure sheet. Events #1 to #7 will have registration open until the start of Level 9.

The U.S. Poker Open is part of the 2025 PGT season, with players earning PGT points based on the amount they cash for in each event. The PGT points awarded during the U.S. Poker Open will also decide who is crowned the U.S. Poker Open champion and receive the $25,000 PGT Passport bonus and the Golden Eagle trophy. PGT points accumulated throughout the PGT season will decide players' final position on the PGT leaderboard. The season-ending top 40 eligible players and select Dream Seat winners will qualify for the 2025 PGT $1,000,000 Championship, where the first-place prize will be $500,000.

Who Will Be Crowned the 2025 U.S. Poker Open Champion?

Previous winners of the U.S. Poker Open include Stephen Chidwick (2018), David Peters (2019, 2021), Sean Winter (2022), Martin Zamani (2023), and Aram Zobian (2024).

Winter has played a substantial amount of PGT events to open the 2025 PGT season, and consequently is the favorite of all the previous champions to make a run at winning another U.S. Poker Open. Peters and Zamani's play is sporadic in scheduling, while Zobian is currently overseas. Chidwick has yet to make an appearance in any 2025 PGT events.

Outside of previous champions, the current favorites to take down the U.S. Poker Open title dominate the current PGT leaderboard. Joey Weissman has one win and four podium finishes this season for 907 PGT points, and will likely be a betting favorite to follow on from his PokerGO Cup victory with another strong performance at the U.S. Poker Open. Kristen Foxen sits second overall with 857 PGT points and is one of a few players with multiple wins this season.

Another multi-PGT title winner for the 2025 PGT season is Chino Rheem, who sits fifth on the PGT leaderboard and is fresh off a second PGT Mixed Games series title, and an impressive PGT PLO Series performance with a few events remaining in that schedule. Another player having a strong PGT PLO Series is Daniel Negreanu, who picked up his 11th career PGT title and sits eight on the PGT leaderboard with 587 PGT points. Although winless for the 2025 PGT season, Nick Schulman sits third on the PGT leaderboard and has 11 cashes and seven final table appearances.
