With 14 victories, 34 cashes, and more than $6,000,000 in prize money won, Ali Imsirovic is named the 2021 PokerGO Tour presented by Guaranteed Rate Player of the Year. Imsirovic won the award thanks to a dominating year-long effort, and with the title comes $200,000 in prize money on behalf of the PGT’s sponsor, Guaranteed Rate. Imsirovic finished the year with 4,364 points, nearly 1,300 points ahead of the competition.
“It still feels pretty surreal, to be honest,” Imsirovic said. “I never thought I would accomplish something of this magnitude in poker. Next, the goal is to just keep trying to get better and solidify and keep proving that I belong here.”
Imsirovic’s year began with a pair of top-three finishes in ARIA High Roller tournaments in January. In February, he added two more top-three finishes in ARIA High Roller tournaments, only this time the two cashes turned out to be victories for a combined $530,710. In March and April, Imsirovic picked up four cashes in PGT events, including two wins for a combined $610,000.
May was much of the same for Imsirovic. He cashed in two ARIA High Roller tournaments and two Venetian High Roller tournaments, with one victory in the bunch. In June, Imsirovic found his way to to four final tables at the 2021 U.S. Poker Open. That’s where he won Event #9: $10,000 NL Hold’em for $217,800. In July, Imsirovic returned to the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas for more success, winning two events at the 2021 PokerGO Cup and cashing for a total of $545,500 at the series.
It seemed as though every time someone would look like they were going to make a move to close the gap that Imsirovic had at the top of the leaderboard, Imsirovic went out and found more results. In August, he cashed twice in Venetian High Roller tournaments, winning one for $136,000. That month, he also picked up a $121,500 prize for a sixth-place finish in an event at the Super High Roller Series Europe. To close out the SHRS Europe festival, Imsirovic won Event #9: $50,000 NL Hold’em for $598,000.
Although Imsirovic only cashed in one of the tournaments at the 2021 Poker Masters series, he closed the month of September with two first-place finishes in ARIA High Roller competitions, scooping up a combined $721,500 from those wins.
October was quiet by Imsirovic’s standards as things pertain to the PokerGO Tour presented by Guaranteed Rate, but then he picked things back up in November. First, he was victorious in a $10,000 buy-in ARIA High Roller for $120,000. Then, Imsirovic recorded a sixth-place finish in Event #55: $50,000 NL Hold’em High Roller at the WSOP for $278,840. Closing out November, Imsirovic added his 14th PGT title of the year, winning the $25,500 NL Hold’em High Roller at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, for $695,355.
“It was my goal from the start,” Imsirovic said of winning the PokerGO Tour presented by Guaranteed Rate Player of the Year award. “I really wanted to win Player of the Year, and I made sure to try and play as many of these as I could and hopefully run as good as I possibly could.”

Finishing in second place on the PokerGO Tour presented by Guaranteed Rate leaderboard is Michael Addamo, who also had quite the year to remember. Addamo earned a $100,000 prize for finishing second on the leaderboard.
Sean Perry was Imsirovic’s closest competition for most of 2021 until Addamo made a late surge during the World Series of Poker. Perry ultimately finished third on the leaderboard, picking up $50,000 in prize money.
All told, the inaugural season of the PokerGO Tour presented by Guaranteed Rate saw more than 17,600 entries across 143 tournaments. Buy-ins ranged from $10,000 up to $300,000, with more than $262,000,000 in prize money awarded. There were 87 unique winners from PokerGO Tour events.
The 2022 season of the PokerGO Tour presented by Guaranteed Rate will be here before we know it. Action is set to start in early January at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas with a group of four high roller tournaments. Also in January is the first-ever PokerGO Stairway To Millions, of which four levels will count for the PokerGO Tour.
