Poker Central, your ultimate poker lifestyle destination, along with POKER PROductions and ARIA Resort & Casino, the stunning Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond Award-winning resort, today announced the expansion of the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl.
“Based on the success of last year’s Super High Roller Bowl and the overwhelming interest in this year’s event, ARIA believed it was in our best interest to increase the size of the event by six players.” said ARIA’s Director of Poker Operations Sean McCormack.
The 2017 Super High Roller Bowl, initially capped at 50 players, one being an invited celebrity guest, will now see 56 players compete in poker’s biggest event. This allows ARIA to balance tables from the beginning of the event, as the tournament will start with eight seven-handed tables. These additional seats will also increase the prize pool to $16,800,000 and increase the first place payout to $6,000,000.
“These additions will give more players a chance to play in the best event of the year and also play for an even bigger prize pool. Bigger is always better and the increase in prize pool and first place payout, along with the enormous prestige of the Super High Roller Bowl, will be welcomed by the players,” said McCormack.
The expansion of the field will not only make the prize pool bigger but will also allow some of the world’s biggest names and personalities to compete.
“More players getting a chance to play against some of the best competition in the world and more recreational players getting a chance to measure themselves against those top players in a televised event will only add to the total experience for poker fans.” added McCormack.
While these additions will have an immediate impact on this year’s event, ARIA also plans to make similar changes for next year.
McCormack explained, “Because of the overwhelming interest this year, ARIA’s intention moving forward will be to approach next year with a tentative field size of 56 players. This will make for a better event and give ARIA more flexibility to make sure a wide range of players are involved in next year’s Super High Roller Bowl.”
After a live lottery had determined which players had claimed the 35 open seats for this year’s event, the remaining 15 seats were to be selected by ARIA. ARIA now has 21 seats at their disposal, and will not be releasing information on their reserved seats until next week. Until then, follow Poker Central for exclusive Super High Roller Bowl content in anticipation of the year’s biggest event.
