After Kevin Hart was announced as the “mystery celebrity” last week, the Super High Roller Bowl field was set and the countdown to May 28th was on. Unfortunately, that set field is undergoing some change this week, as one of the Super High Roller Bowl’s most legendary participants will not be able to compete.
Bobby Baldwin can no longer attend the Super High Roller Bowl, as the casino executive has out-of-state board meeting that now conflict with the timing of the event. Mr. Baldwin has participated in the last two Super High Roller Bowl events and has also competed in the $1,000,000 buy-in The Big One for One Drop during the World Series of Poker, an event Mr. Baldwin final tabled in 2012.
The four-time WSOP bracelet winner and former WSOP Main Event champion will be replaced by a player from ARIA’s Alternate List. For privacy reasons and short notice for potential replacement players, ARIA’s alternate list will not be made public.
ARIA will correspond with Poker Central on the announcement of the alternate player upon receiving the $300,000 buy-in in full. Mr. Baldwin’s replacement will be announced by Poker Central prior to the start of the event on May 28th.
Because Mr. Baldwin was a player selected by ARIA, they will have the final say over his replacement and in the case that there are more cancellations prior to the start of the Super High Roller Bowl, ARIA will select those players as well.
It should also be noted that any player that pulls out of the Super High Roller Bowl is subject to a loss of their $30,000 deposit. That amount will be added to the eight-place payout.
More information on the Super High Roller Bowl can be found here and to learn about the rest of this year’s field, follow Poker Central’s “25 Days of SHRBowl” on Twitter.
