Poker After Dark loves to throw fun combinations together and “Idol Week” takes that reputation to the next level. This week on THE VAULT, watch five 20-somethings compete against their poker grandfather in Doyle Brunson. The online generation is at a peak in this episode and the names onscreen reflect that.
The stakes are raised to $50,000 for the winner-take-all Sit-n-Go. Everyone gets a chance to show off their Six Max.
Making their Poker After Dark debuts are Andrew Lichtenberger and Eric Baldwin or as they are better known, “LuckyChewy” and “basebaldy.” The two Las Vegas pros cut their teeth using a mouse and watched their careers jump to the point of both of them owning a World Series of Poker bracelet. The two can be found playing in tournaments year-round.
Melanie Weisner appeared on “Femme Fatale” week on Poker After Dark to open 2018. A few years prior, Weisner was a virtual Sit-n-Go expert who was just starting to become known to the general viewing public.
By this stage in his Poker After Dark career, Tom Dwan is as experienced as any player in the show’s history. Dwan is far from the most chatty player at the table in most lineups but being among his peers in this episode opens up a new side of ‘Durrrr.’ At only 24-year-old during the filming of the episode, it’s hard to believe Dwan was already a relative ‘old hand’ due to the millions of hands played during his career.
One of the few players who can hold their own against Dwan in terms of pure volume is Annette Obrestad. The Norwegian online queen played so many Sit-n-Go’s during his poker upbringing that she was challenged herself by playing with a post-it over her hole cards and ended up winning.
None of those shenanigans are in play this week with a strong crew of opponents to fight against. Brunson is impressed by how much knowledge has been attained by the five he sits with in such a short time.
Who will win the battle of generations on Poker After Dark? The answer does not disappoint.
