This week five new episodes of Deep Issues were released exclusively on PokerGO featuring David PetersNick Petrangelo, Rep Porter, Sarah Herring, and Daniel Negreanu. Today we’ll take a closer look at the episode with three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Rep Porter as Drea Renee applies pressure on a true family man and poker lifer.

Playing his first game of cards at age eight, Rep Porter is a poker lifer. Porter has stood the test of time as the game evolved, as he’s continued to expand his World Series of Poker bracelet collection to three back in 2016. Two of Porter’s bracelets are in Seven Card Razz while his first one, back in 2008, was in a $1,5000 No Limit Hold’em 6-max tournament.

In Drea’s massage chair, Porter talks about the importance of family life, combining it with poker and how his family straight up told him to “get a job” when he laid out the plans for his poker career.

“I was making more money per hour in college playing poker than what I would be making five years into the fields that I was studying.”

Porter dropped in and out of college over a 10-year span before finally graduating from the University of Washington, and while he’s still doing well he would never recommend his career choices to his children. To keep up with the game, Porter still diligently studies and provides his own coaching and courses on The Poker Academy.
