Instagram Insiders: Front Row, Vlogs, Jams and Solving for Why

While a tweet or two may let fans into their favorite poker player’s heads, it is usually just for a brief moment thanks to a 140-character limit. Instagram has no such boundaries though and this week brought some pictures across our timeline that were all worth more than a thousand words.

Dan Smith went east for the PokerStars Championship Macau but he’s stayed on the other side of the world for the last few weeks. This past week, Smith took in a Rizin Fighting Federation match from what looked like the front row. King Dan wasn’t lying when he described the fighters as large individuals, they look big in the picture and probably looked even bigger in person.

 

One card away from winning it and had him in bad shape! 2nd place for $175k was worth leaving the house.

Poker Central had their own front row seats to this week’s Bellagio $25K Mixed Game High Rollers and so did Daniel Negreanu. Kid Poker notched back-to-back runner-up finishes and while he put together two post-tournament vlogs on his YouTube channel, he also gave his Instagram followers some live updates, this one coming after a tough river that gave Ben Lamb a massive heads up chip lead.

Heads up on the felt, advantage Phil Hellmuth. Heads up on the golf course, advantage Tiger Woods. Next month, these two legends won’t be playing each other though, they are teaming up for the Tiger Woods Foundation. Tiger Jam’s Poker Night starts May 19^th at MGM Grand and the fourteen-time WSOP bracelet winner will be hosting as the emcee.

Doug Polk isn’t an emcee by trade but day in and day out, hosts tons of poker fans and players on nearly every form of social media. From his YouTube channel, to live streaming on Twitch and a wide variety of Instagram and Snapchat stories, Polk has planted his flag everywhere. Last night, he made his way to ARIA to play some $5/$10 No Limit cash and we’re looking forward to the future vlog on the session.

This week, The Solve for Why Academy has been running a heads up tournament and giving away pieces of Matt Berkey in this year’s Super High Roller Bowl. The tournament started with 16 players and they are down to the final two, with Poker Central’s own Brent Hanks facing off against last year’s SHR Bowl final tablist, Matt Berkey. We don’t usually pick favorites but we have to keep our rooting interests in-house for this one and will definitely be following the best-of-three match later today.
