The 2017 poker season kicked off with the first PokerStars Championship Bahamas at the Atlantis Resort with the $100,000 Super High Roller event. An exclusive club of 39 players took the felt and generated 11 re-entries. Nick Petrangelo topped the chipped counts at the close of action with 36 returning players for Day 2.

Steve O’Dwyer, Connor Drinan, Jason Koon and Jason Mercier finished in the top ten but none outshined Hollywood’s Kevin Hart. The actor returns short-stacked but still more healthier than Mustapha Kanit and Paul Newey.

Hart at one point threatened to buy in 22 times if he had to, but so far Bill Perkins is the only player to rebuy a third time. Daniel Negreanu, Erik Seidel and Timothy Adams are among those that did have one re-entry.

Kevin Hart joins the Super High Roller Action.

Pascal Lefrancois, Adams and Anthony Zinno hit the rail during the day’s action, with Zinno busting on the final hand of the night. Registration remains open until the start of play of Day 2.

The registration numbers look a bit down from 2016’s event which drew 58 total entries for a $5.6 million prize pool. Bryn Kenny became the all-time winningest player in the Bahamas with $1.68 million after beating Joe McKeehen heads up.
