Earlier this fall, Poker Masters changed the high stakes tournament game with a five-event week-long series featuring big buy-ins and some of the world’s biggest names. Next year, Poker Central aims to change the high stakes tournament game again with the inaugural U.S. Poker Open.
The high stakes tournament series, comprised of $10,000, $25,000, and $50,000 events, will run from February 1 to February 11 at ARIA Resort & Casino and will live stream exclusively on PokerGO.
The U.S. Poker Open will be one of the highest stakes series of the year, with two $10K No Limit Hold’em events, a $10K Pot Limit Omaha tournament, three $25K No Limit Hold’em events, the USPO $25K Mixed Game Championship, and the $50K No Limit Hold’em Main Event.
Much like Poker Masters, the player who nets the most earnings over the course of the USPO series will be named the U.S. Poker Open Champion and receive the championship trophy.
“The U.S. Poker Open is our newest marquee tournament positioned to kick off the high-stakes tournament calendar,” said Joe Kakaty, president of Poker Central. “Our lineup of quarterly majors give PokerGO subscribers year-round access to some of the best high-stakes poker in the world.”
That lineup of majors includes the previously mentioned Poker Masters series, which ran in September of this year, and the Super High Roller Bowl, which has run for the past three years with a $500,000 in 2015 and $300,000 buy-ins in 2016 and 2017.
A complete U.S. Poker Open schedule can be found below:
It should be noted that all No Limit Hold’em events will follow the same structure that was employed during Poker Masters and the $25,000 USPO Mixed Game Championship will feature 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw, Limit Texas Hold’em, No Limit Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, Pot Limit Omaha, Razz, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better.
