Poker Masters Championship Standings: Hitting the Homestretch

Through the first half of the Poker Masters series, three players have won battles, but the outcome of the war is still to be decided. That is because the Poker Masters Purple Jacket doesn’t go to the player that started the fastest or was the most successful through the first few events of the series. The Poker Masters Purple Jacket goes to the winningest player throughout the series, meaning that the war won’t be over until the $100,000 Championship concludes next week.

The Event #3 final table was absolutely stacked, but despite those big names, only one player from that seven-handed lineup had a chance to move over $1 million in Poker Masters cashes. That player was Bryn Kenney and while he came into yesterday’s final table in the middle of the pack, he was able to ninja his way to the winner’s circle. The $960,000 score instantly put Kenney into Purple Jacket contention, but he is still looking up to Steffen Sontheimer.

Sontheimer will have an even larger lead at the top of the Poker Masters Championship Standings if he is able to cash in Event #4. The German has made his third final table of the series, but because of a slightly smaller field, only six players will cash in Event #4. Sontheimer isn’t the only player looking to expand on his previous Poker Masters total, as Doug Polk and Jake Schindler are also still alive in the final $50,000 prelim.

Only one of those players is currently in the top-ten though. Fedor Holz ($550,000), Jake Schindler ($312,000), Stefan Schillhabel ($306,000), Tom Marchese ($300,000), and Phil Hellmuth ($200,000), round out the top-ten, but with a nearly $2 million prize pool up for grabs in Event #4, and $819,000 for the win, Sunday’s results will certainly shake up the race for the Purple Jacket.
