Following the success of the inaugural "First Thursday" monthly industry tournament presented by Poker Royalty held earlier this month, Horseshoe Vegas will host the second event on Thursday, April 6, 2023.
The $160 No-Limit Hold'em tournament will begin at 1 p.m. PT from the newly-renovated Horseshoe Vegas poker room, and courtesy of WSOP Vice President Jack Effel, there will be an added WSOP Casino Employees entry awarded to the winner of the tournament. The event is open to casino employees including dealers, managers, and directors, as well as poker media and personalities.
The concept was first announced by Poker Royalty's Brian Balsbaugh on Twitter. Recently, he announced that Horseshoe Vegas would be the second location for the event following its debut at ARIA Resort & Casino on March 2, prior to the Global Poker Awards. The companies represented in the event included Poker Royalty, PokerNews, PokerStars, PGT, PokerGO, and many more.
“If you work in poker, you rarely actually play poker. I had this idea to get us industry folks together once a month at different card rooms around Vegas and play a tourney," Balsbaugh said. "Small picture, we get to play poker. Big picture, we network, build relationships, and down the road, work together to grow the game.”
Unlike the first event, there is an added bonus for the eventual winner; they will win a seat in the 2023 WSOP Event #1: $500 Casino Employees event. The event will start at 1 p.m. PT on Thursday, April 6, and players will need a Total Rewards card to enter.
