PokerStars has been staples in both the Bahamas and Panama over the last few years, so the only difference between the last two PokerStars Championships in those locales was new branding around the series. This weekend though, PokerStars makes their debut in Asia’s capital of gaming, with the first-ever global PokerStars-sponsored event to be held in the vibrant city of Macau.
The 11-day PokerStars Championship Macau runs from March 30 to April 9 and will be held in the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room, located within the luxury City of Dreams complex. The City of Dreams is Macau’s premier entertainment hub, complete with three luxury hotels, shops, shows and first class restaurants.
In total, 52 events will run throughout the series, with some boasting big guarantees that will give players an unmissable chance to crave poker trophies and glories at the first Championship event ever held on the Eastern Hemisphere.
The flagship HK$82,400 PokerStars Championship Main Event is the top draw on the large-scale tournament schedule, which is also featuring a host of high-buy-in tournaments. The HK$400,000 Super High Roller and the HK$103,000 High Roller fill one end of the spectrum, while the HK$2,000,000 guaranteed HK$8,000 PokerStars National Championship and HK$1,000,000 guaranteed HK$5,500 PokerStars Asia Open are key events on the lower end of the buy-in spectrum.
Team PokerStars Pros in attendance of PokerStars Championship Macau include Celina Lin, Felipe Ramos, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Andre Akkari, Aditya Agarwal and Chris Moneymaker. A variety of workshops and events surrounding these Team PokerStars Pros will take place throughout the series, including a Q&A session with Chris Moneymaker on April 4th.
