Matthew Wantman Leads the Final Table of Event #3 $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha
After the first few installments of Poker After Dark’s reboot exclusively featured No Limit Hold’em as the game of choice, “PLOMG” week made Poker After Dark history with the return of Pot Limit Omaha. The four-card variant hadn’t been seen on Poker After Dark for the better part of a decade, but that all changed when some of the world’s best PLO players came together for three nights of $300/$600 cash game action.
The first night of “PLOMG” featured a mixture of players from past seasons of Poker After Dark and from last month’s reboot. Phil Galfond made his Poker After Dark debut all the way back in Season 7, when PLO first debuted on PAD, and returned to headline all three sessions of $300/$600 cash games. Brandon Adams, who was a regular on Poker After Dark back in the day and has tons of high stakes experience, also made his first reboot appearance. Ben Lamb, Brian Rast, and Isaac Haxton also returned, after playing during both “Voices Carry” and “Rumble with Jungle” week.
After making a quick two-hour appearance on the first night of “PLOMG” week, Daniel “Jungleman” Cates returned to run-it-back with the same lineup on Wednesday. Galfond, Lamb, Adams, and Haxton were back for a second consecutive night, but were also joined by arguably the biggest name in high stakes poker. Tom Dwan, after travel plans derailed plans to play in all three nights of “PLOMG” week, made his Poker After Dark return. While he and Daniel Cates didn’t clash that many times, it was the first time those two heavy weights were in the televised ring together.
The “PLOMG” finale featured another mixture of Poker After Dark veterans and debutants. Galfond, Cates, Adams, and Haxton returned to headline the lineup, with WSOP bracelet winners and high stakes specialists Chance Kornuth and Josh Arieh rounding out the six-handed lineup. The night started with a casual $30,000 flip and after booking the biggest wins during the first two nights of $300/$600 cash games, online legend Isaac Haxton scooped Phil Galfond in one of Thursday’s biggest pots to book a third-straight win.
To relive all the “PLOMG” action, watch event replays exclusively through PokerGO’s on-demand library and be sure to stay tuned for more episodes of Poker After Dark when they return next month.
