Las Vegas, NV (January 4, 2024) — PokerGO® and the PokerGO Tour® (PGT®) are pleased to announce the return of the PGT Championship $1,000,000 Freeroll to conclude the 2024 season.
The epic season finale will see the top 40 players as ranked by the PGT leaderboard compete alongside select Dream Seat winners for the chance at a $500,000 top prize. The Dream Seats, awarded via the Dream Seat Invitational held before the PGT Championship, grant players exclusive entry to compete in the PGT Championship. Players and fans will have numerous opportunities to earn Dream Passes through various promotions in 2024, and each Dream Pass is a ticket to compete in the Dream Seat Invitational.
Players who qualify for the 2024 PGT Championship via the PGT leaderboard will start the tournament with starting chip stacks based on leaderboard points earned throughout the season. All players receive a minimum of 100 big blinds to start. The player to finish atop the PGT leaderboard with the most points will be named PGT Player of the Year and will be awarded a $50,000 prize. Players must have a minimum of three PGT cashes to be eligible for the PGT Championship.
“Following a record-setting season that saw more players than ever compete in PGT-qualifying events, we are proud to announce the return of the PGT Championship $1,000,000 Freeroll in our continued effort to be the tour that gives back the most to its players,” said Tim Duckworth, PokerGO Director of Live Events. “With the return of the epic season-ending PGT Championship and the tour’s upgraded rules for 2024, we could not be more excited for what plans to be our best season yet.”
The $1,000,000 freeroll prize pool and $50,000 player of the year bonus aren’t the only added prizes for players during the 2024 PGT season. The series winners of the PokerGO Cup, U.S. Poker Open, and Poker Masters will each win a $25,000 championship bonus. Series winners of the PGT Mixed Games and PGT PLO Series will each win a $10,000 championship bonus. These championship bonuses are series leaderboard prizes awarded to the player who finishes a series with the most PGT leaderboard points in qualifying events. In total, the PGT is offering $1,155,000 in bonus prize money to players for the 2024 season.
Also new for the 2024 PGT season are rule adjustments that include a revised seven-handed payout structure, final tables to combine at seven players, amended PGT points structure for cashes over $1,000,000, updated play clock and time extension rules. The play clock for owned-and-operated PGT events will be 20 seconds preflop and 30 seconds post-flop. Players will receive more time extensions for early entry and fewer time extensions for late entry. There will also be additional time extensions when in the money of tournaments with 85 or more entries and at final tables. For more details, please visit PGT.com/points.
The 2024 PGT season begins January 11 with the PGT Kickoff. This new series offers double PGT leaderboard points for each tournament, meaning players can jumpstart their run to the 2024 PGT Championship with boosted points. Following the PGT Kickoff series is the 2024 PokerGO Cup, scheduled for January 25-February 3. Both series take place at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.
