2012 WSOP Main Event: History Almost Gets Made on PokerGO

The 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event featured a ton of memorable moments including the clash of elites, “You lost, bro,” and one of the most bizarre hands in Main Event history. Day 7 ratchets up the intensity with history on the horizon.

PokerGO is the home for a near-milestone achievement with the weight of the poker world on the shoulders of Elizabeth Hille and Gaelle Baumann. No woman has made the Main Event final table since Barbara Enright finished fifth in 1995. Both Hille and Baumann have history on the line with a boogeyman in their way in Andras Koroknai.

The Hungarian dodged elimination late on Day 5 to Baumann thanks to a generous floor ruling and is alive on Day 7 to vanquish the dreams of those attempting to reach the final table.

Koroknai matches up with start of Day 7 chip leader Marc-André Ladouceur and puts a horrific beat on the Canadian to propel himself up the leaderboard.

Villain by narrative only, Koroknai is called “good people” by none other than Rob Salaburu. Mistakes in language barrier aside, Koroknai displays the chops that earned him the L.A. Poker Classic on the World Poker Tour.

Another LAPC champ in the mix is 2017 winner Daniel Strelitz. ‘Deoxy’ joins former LAPC final tablist Paul Volpe on the outer table for dramatic all-ins and fireworks.

Jeremy Ausmus stays in cruise control with his largest career score growing with every pay jump. Ausmus recalls his deep Main Event run with Remko Rinkema and discusses the pressure of playing for life-changing money on Day 7.

As he did on Day 6, Greg Merson plays exquisite poker. Before he can start to run it up, Merson must survive a dramatic coin flip against Cy Watson with both tournament lives on the line.

All the Day 7 action leads up to an unforgettable final table bubble with the record book halfway toward being rewritten.
