The 2025 U.S. Poker Open continued from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada with the finale of the series, Event #8: $25,200 No-Limit Hold'em. The tournament drew 73 entries and Nacho Barbero leads the final seven players.
Barbero scored three of the last four eliminations of the night and finished by bagging the overnight lead with 30% of the chips in play. Barbero leads Landon Tice, Shannon Shorr, Sam Laskowitz, Nick Petrangelo, Justin Saliba, and Clemen Deng. These seven players will return already guaranteed $73,000, while all eyes will be on the $529,250 first-place prize, 318 PGT points, and the Event #8 mini Golden Eagle trophy.
The field of 73 entrants created a prize pool of $1,825,000 and the final 11 players earned a piece of it. Kristina Holst was the unfortunate bubble girl after she got her short stack in with ace-eight against pocket sixes and failed to improve. Eric Blair (11th) and Isaac Haxton (10th) were the first to fall in the money.
Japanese vlogging sensation Masato Yokosawa made a deep run but was coolered when he flopped an inferior flush to Tice's nut flush. The rest of the chips went in on the river and Yokosawa was eliminated in eighth place.
Shortly after, Dylan Weisman got his stack in with king-nine against Barbero's queen-ten. A ten landed on the flop but a king fell on the turn to put Weisman back in front. However, another ten spiked the river and Weisman was eliminated in eighth place, while the seven remaining players bagged to return for the streamed final table.
Matthew Wantman currently sits atop the series leaderboard in the race to be crowned the U.S. Poker Open champion and be awarded the Golden Eagle trophy and a $25,000 PGT Passport. Only Barbero and Shorr can overtake him, and either will have to be victorious in this concluding event to take home the prestigious bird of prey.
