The sweat was alive to just about the last possible second. Anthony Hu had the points lead entering the final day of the final event. Four players remained and three of the four could still become PokerGO Cup champion. In addition to Katz being able to win it, Sean Winter and Daniel Colpoys were alive in the race. The chip leader entering the final day of the $50,000 NL Hold’em finale, Isaac Haxton, could not win the overall series title. Both Winter and Colpoys needed a victory in the final event to win, and Katz could win the final event or finish second to Haxton.
As it turned out, Colpoys busted in fourth place and Winter followed him out the door in third place. That left Katz faced with heads-up play against Haxton, and it also locked in Katz for the overall PokerGO Cup title. Hu, who had been sweating the action from the rail on the final day, saw his chance at winning the title evaporate when Winter went out in third place. Hu finished on 454 points - just six points behind Katz - from three cashes, including one victory.
In the final event, Katz placed runner-up behind Haxton, winning $364,000. Haxton won the $50,000 finale for $598,000.
