The 2024 PGT $1,000,000 Championship kicked off on Friday from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Dylan Weisman leads the final six players.

Weisman leads a final table that includes Chris Hunichen, Jim Collopy, Calvin Anderson, Nick Schulman, and 2024 PGT Player of the Year Jeremy Ausmus.

The final six players will all be paid a piece of the $1,000,000 prize pool. Each remaining player is guaranteed $40,000, but all eyes will be on the $500,000 first-place prize and the absolute unit of a PGT trophy.

With the conclusion of the 2024 PGT season, the Top 40 eligible players on the PGT leaderboard and 10 Dream Seat winners secured a seat in the PGT $1,000,000 Championship. Of the 50 invited players, 44 players sat down with their stacks in the seven-figure freeroll. Starting stacks were based on placement on the season-long PGT Leaderboard, and ranged from 100,000 to 350,000.

Some of the players who fell short of the final table included 2024 WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Tamayo (40th), Alan Keating (37th), two-time PGT Last Chance winners Brandon Wilson (31st) and Shannon Shorr (30th), 2024 PGT Player of the Year runner-up Daniel Negreanu (26th), online legend Viktor Blom (23rd), Dream Seat winner Joe Sicko (17th), 2023 PGT Player of the Year Isaac Haxton, and 2022 PGT Player of the Year Stephen Chidwick.

Weisman accumulated throughout the day and surged to the top of the counts near the end of the night. He cemented the overnight chip lead when he had ace-five against Alex Foxen's ace-king and spiked a five on the turn to eliminate Foxen in eighth place. Kristen Foxen made a deep run as well, but it would not be the day of the Foxen, as she got her short stack in simultaneously on the other table and when she was unable to improve, she was eliminated in seventh place while the six remaining players bagged to return for the final table.

Weisman finished as the 11th eligible player on the PGT leaderboard and, although he is primarily an Omaha player, two of his four victories this season inside the PokerGO Studio came in NLH events. Hunichen was 26th and was in large part propelled into this tournament thanks to his bracelet victory in the WSOP $100K and third-place finish in the WSOP $250K.

Collopy narrowly missed out on the PGT Championship last year and came back to ensure a spot this year as he finished seventh on the leaderboard. Collopy will be looking to add a victory to his 20 PGT cashes as part of a solid 2024 season. Anderson finished 28th on the leaderboard in large part due to his bracelet win in the $10K Eight Game Mix and runner-up finish in the $10K BIG O at the WSOP over the summer.

Schulman finished eighth on the leaderboard with two wins and 19 PGT cashes over the season, which includes a bracelet in the WSOP $25K NLH eight-handed and a win just last week in Event #1 of the PGT Last Chance series. Ausmus was the clear 2024 PGT Player of the Year with 2,966 points over the season from one victory and 26 cashes, and although he started the day as the chipleader, he will be entering the final table as the short stack but with plenty of room to play.
