Joey Weissman Leads PokerGO Cup Event #8 Final Table
The PokerGO Cup continued on Tuesday from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the penultimate event of the series, Event #7: $15,100 No-Limit Hold’em. The tournament drew 86 entries and Erik Seidel leads the final seven players.
Seidel was in the middle of the pack before he won a big flip during one of the final hands of the night en route to holding the overnight chip lead. He leads a final table that includes Patrick Leonard, Farid Jattin, Sergio Aido, David Peters, Eric Wasserson, and Kristen Foxen. These seven players will return on Wednesday at 12 p.m. already guaranteed $51,600. Up top for the winner is the $348,300 first-place prize, 279 PGT points, and the Event #7 trophy.
The field of 86 entrants created a prize pool of $1,290,000 and the final 13 players earned a piece of it. Brock Wilson was the unfortunate bubble boy when he ran jacks into ace-queen and an ace landed on the flop. Darren Elias (13th), Nick Schulman (12th), Matthew McEwan (11th), Eric Blair (10th), Dan Smith (9th), and Sam Laskowitz (8th) were the first to fall in the money.
The remaining players converged on a single table and Seidel found himself all-in and at risk with queen-jack suited against the pocket sevens of Aido. A seven appeared in the window, but Seidel flopped a flush and held to become the chip leader. The seven players continued to play through Level 16 before they bagged to return for the streamed final table.
Joey Weissman still sits atop the series leaderboard in the race for the PokerGO Cup and a $25,000 PGT Passport ahead of Eric Blair and Michael "Texas Mike" Moncek. Aido is fifth on the leaderboard following his win in Event #5 and could jump up to third with a victory here. Leonard and Foxen each grabbed their third cash of the series, while Seidel, Jattin, and Aido picked up their second, and Peters and Wasserson notched their first.
