While a tweet or two may let fans into their favorite poker player’s heads, it’s usually just for a brief moment thanks to a 140-character limit. Instagram has no such boundaries though and this week brought some pictures across our timeline that were all worth more than a thousand words.
Since Liv Boeree has no idea what she is doing in this picture, we’re opening this week’s “Instagram Insiders” post with a Liv Boeree Caption Contest! Let’s take in all the necessary information to let the fans at home make the best caption possible. We’ll start with the chess board; we then notice the pink-tinted glasses of Liv’s opponent, move a little to the right and you see a picture of what looks like an antelope with a lion’s mane. There is then a yoga mat and Liv has two different color socks on. No judgement.
After his mid-2016 retirement, the poker world had to sit and wait to see when Fedor Holz would make his return to the felt. Some thought the PokerStars Championship Bahamas would be the series to bring Fedor back but it was the second $100,000 buy-in event of the year that did it. The now recreational Holz went Down Under and final tabled the $100,000 Aussie Millions Challenge. That event won’t restart until the weekend, so Fedor hung around for the Main Event and is, not surprisingly, still alive with 36 players remaining.
Jennifer Tilly is still alive in the Aussie Millions Main Event and that means that Phil Laak had a day to himself to kill. While Tilly advanced to Day 3 of the tournament, along with the previously mentioned Fedor Holz, ‘The Unabomber’ spent his day hanging ten at Smiths Beach. Surfs up for Laak but we imagine he’ll be back to Crown Melbourne once the Main Event restarts to be on his girlfriend’s rail.
Daniel Negreanu posts about just as many pictures as him hitting the gym, as he does of him hitting the felt. This week though, ‘Kid Poker’ hit the dance floor. Between charity poker lessons, Hearthstone games, Cirque du Soleil at T-Mobile Arena, Negreanu has found time to take up ballroom dancing and he shared his first attempt at the tango.
