The 2024 Poker Masters presented by PokerStars NAPT kicked off Tuesday from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Event #1: $5,100 No-Limit Hold’em. The tournament drew a field of 131 entries and leading the final six players is Jessica Vierling.
Vierling's key hand approaching the final table came when she doubled through Isaac Haxton, the chip leader at the time, with 12 players remaining. All in for nine big blinds after the flop, Vierling was open-ended with an overcard against Haxton's had top pair with a straight draw. Vierling made a better pair on the turn and held up through the river to begin her ascent toward the top of the chip counts. She leads a final table that includes Dylan Linde, Spencer Champlin, Dan Shak, Nicholas Seward, and Zachary Grech. These six players will return on Wednesday at noon, already guaranteed $32,750. Up top for the winner is the $160,475 first-place prize, 160 PGT points, and the Event #1 trophy.
The field of 131 entrants created a prize pool of $655,000 and the final 19 players earned a piece of it. Adam Weinraub just missed out, busting on the money bubble. Danny Qutami (19th), Michael Brinkenhoff (18th), David Coleman (17th), Ryan Riess (16th), and Alex Foxen (15th) were the first to fall once the money was reached. Vladas Tamasauskas (14th), Clemen Deng (13th), Martin Carnero (12th), Chris Hunichen (11th), Tamas Lendvai (10th), and Eshaan Bhalla (9th) followed thereafter.
Haxton fell just short of the final table in eighth place, getting his chips in with ace-queen against Linde's pocket sevens. An ace found the flop to give Haxton the lead, but Linde (after turning a straight draw) rivered a set to take the chip lead into the final table of seven players.
Matthew Wantman was eliminated in seventh place, getting his 11 big blinds in with ace-six suited against Vierling's pocket queens. The pair held up and Vierling secured the chip lead entering the livestreamed final table of six players.
