Following a long run of events in the PokerGO Studio during September and October, the 2024 PGT season headed down the road for the PokerStars NAPT Las Vegas and then to Texas for the inaugural Texas PLO Roundup for the penultimate event of the season.

Resorts World hosted the PokerStars NAPT Las Vegas, which included two PGT-qualifying high roller events. The NAPT Las Vegas $25,000 Super High Roller attracted 60 entrants and Stephen Song emerged victorious to win the $439,400 first-place prize. Song also earned 264 PGT points and moved to 86th on the PGT leaderboard at the time (now 88th) and is in striking distance of reaching the top 40. Others to cash included Sean Winter, who moved to 14th on the PGT leaderboard, and Jim Collopy, who moved to seventh on the PGT leaderboard. The NAPT Las Vegas $10,300 High Roller attracted 170 entrants, and Sam Soverel won the $385,750 first-place prize and 386 PGT points. Soverel moved into the top 40 with the win, while fourth-place finisher David Coleman returns to the top ten.

Champions Club in Houston, Texas, hosted the inaugural Texas PLO Roundup. The series featured three $5,100 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller tournaments and a $1,000,000 prize pool guaranteed $3,300 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha Main Event. Adam Hendrix, Curtis Muller, and Ronald Keijzer won the three high rollers, and Keijzer improved his PGT leaderboard standings to 54th, which is also 41st when factoring in eligibility. The Texas PLO Roundup $3,300 Main Event attracted a massive 474 entrants and smashed through the guarantee to set a prize pool of $1,422,000. Lawrence Chang topped the field and won the $300,000 first-place prize and earned 300 PGT points. Chang moved to 157th on the PGT leaderboard, and runner-up Andrew Ige moved to 221st.

Arthur Morris earned three cashes for 88 PGT points and moved to 85th on the PGT leaderboard, but the biggest benefactor from the Texas PLO Roundup was Jordan Griff, who finished 27th in the Main Event. This cash was only for 11 PGT points, but for Griff, it was his third cash of the 2024 PGT season, meaning he is now qualified for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship. Griff currently sits in 15th place, which would see him begin the PGT $1,000,000 Championship with 255 big blinds if his PGT leaderboard position doesn't change.

PGT Championship Qualification & Player of the Year Bonus

Players who finish the 2024 PGT season ranked in the top 40 of the PGT leaderboard and have cashed in three PGT events throughout the season will earn qualification for the season-ending PGT $1,000,000 Championship freeroll. The PGT $1,000,000 Championship winner will take home $500,000 with additional payouts for the final table paid as a combination of cash and a PGT Passport. The player who finishes the 2024 PGT season with the most leaderboard points will be named PGT Player of the Year and be awarded a $50,000 PGT Passport.

What's Next On the PGT Schedule?

The 2024 PGT season is just a handful of events away from concluding, with the final series of PGT Last Chance running from January 2-9. Six $10,100 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournaments will be held in the PokerGO Studio, with the final table livestreamed on PokerGO the following day. Not only is this series important for players in the top 40 to ladder up their positions and increase their starting stack in the PGT $1,000,000 Championship freeroll, but it also gives players outside of the top 40 a chance to qualify by overtaking players on the fringe.

There is also a unique PGT Last Chance leaderboard where a Dream Seat will be awarded to the top three finishes who do not qualify for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship. At the conclusion of the 2023 PGT season, Sam Laskowitz and Dylan DeStefano won a Dream Seat and received direct entry into the PGT $1,000,000 Championship freeroll. They finished the season in 108th and 117th place, respectively. For 2024, there will be an additional Dream Seat added so that three players can qualify for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship. There is also a new qualification rule where the top 40 eligible players will qualify, meaning those with three PGT cashes this season.

Current players in the top 40 who haven't reached the three-cash eligibility include Jonathan Tamayo, Brian Kim, Niklas Astedt, Jason Sagle, Matthew Lambrecht, Andres Gonzalez, Elie Nakache, and Malo Latinois. This means that Matthew Wantman, Isaac Haxton, Sergio Aido, Ren Lin, Danny Tang, Stephen Chidwick, Brock Wilson, Taylor von Kriegenbergh, and Brek Schutten are currently qualified.

The PGT $1,000,000 Championship freeroll will take place on January 10-11, with the final six players in the money and the winner taking home the $500,000 first-place prize.
