Justin Bonomo Claims Big One for One Drop Chip Lead on ESPN2

Justin Bonomo’s 2018 gets better with each tournament and he is the chip leader after Day 2 of the Big One for One Drop. Bonomo bagged below the 5,000,000 starting stack on Day 1 but jumped into the lead midway through Day 2 and held on through the final six.

Rick Salomon held the lead coming into Day 2 and survived to make his third career One Drop final table.

19 players returned for Day 2 play and three new players joined them with Rainer Kempe, Brian Rast, and Byron Kaverman joining the field to bring the total to 27.

Bonomo outlasted two of those entrants and enters the final table with the chance to pass Daniel Negreanu on the all-time tournament money list.

Rast fell alongside Negreanu to bring the field down to two tables. Both of the past One Drop final tablists were plenty live to double up but Nick Petrangelo and Steffen Sontheimer ran slightly better to bust the powerful opponents.

The first hand that launched Bonomo up the leaderboard was his elimination of Matthew Siegal. The High Roller rookie put Bonomo in a tough spot and Bonomo managed to get lucky to pick up the huge pot.

Bonomo busted Petrangelo in seventh place to put the One Drop field on the money bubble heading into tomorrow.

Only one player is left to be eliminated before the $2 million bubble pops. Fedor Holz is second in chips behind Bonomo and no stranger to high buy-ins. Holz has played in three Super High Roller Bowls and this is his first Big One for One Drop.
