The 2024 PGT season comes to an epic conclusion at the PokerGO Studio in the new year, with it hosting PGT Last Chance from January 2-9 and the PGT $1,000,000 Championship from January 10-11.
PGT Last Chance also offers a unique series leaderboard that will award a Dream Seat to the three highest-ranked players who do not qualify for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship via the Top 40. In addition, the next five players on the series leaderboard will receive a Dream Pass and be granted entry into the exclusive Dream Seat Invitational. They will compete against other Dream Pass winners for one of the final six Dream Seats into the PGT $1,000,000 Championship.
Players will use PGT Last Chance to solidify their position in the Top 40 and improve their starting stacks. However, many players are not within reach of the Top 40 and will put all their hopes into winning a Dream Seat. If they aren't one of three players awarded a Dream Seat, they'll hope to be awarded a Dream Pass and parlay that into one of the final Dream Seats into the PGT $1,000,000 Championship.
Dan Smith (82nd - 584 PGT points) and Cary Katz (99th - 484 PGT points) are within striking distance of the Top 40, but both have more hope in acquiring a Dream Seat to secure their seat into the PGT $1,000,000 Championship. However, fortunately for the other players looking to secure a Dream Seat into the PGT $1,000,000 Championship, both Smith and Katz have told representatives at the PGT that they will not be attending PGT Last Chance, and therefore forego any chance of being in the PGT $1,000,000 Championship.
After winning the EPT Barcelona Main Event, Stephen Song followed that by winning the NAPT Las Vegas $25k Super High Roller. Song sits 88th on the PGT leaderboard with 549 PGT points and would need a win and a final table at PGT Last Chance to sneak into the Top 40, but after his two big PokerStars victories and two cashes at WSOP Paradise, he'll be hoping to parlay his recent run good into a Dream Seat.
Not every PGT regular can have a season that sees them secure a seat in the PGT $1,000,000 Championship, or even one that puts them within reach of the Top 40 heading into the final series. Those players' hope of playing the PGT $1,000,000 Championship rests in winning a Dream Seat, and the following PGT regulars will all be hoping the luck is in their cards at PGT Last Chance.
Last PGT season, Andrew Lichtenberger fell short of qualifying for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship as he finished 45th with 1,052 PGT points. Lichtenberger's 2024 PGT season hasn't been as successful as he has only accrued 565 PGT points and sits 86th on the PGT leaderboard.
Chris Brewer has been very selective in his playing schedule this PGT season, and as a consequence, he sits 89th on the PGT leaderboard with 541 PGT points. Last PGT season, Brewer finished second overall with 2,490 PGT points and was runner-up to Isaac Haxton, who was crowned the PGT Player of the Year.
A constant player across all series, John Riordan sits 90th on the PGT leaderboard with 535 PGT points. Riordan has vastly improved on last PGT season's standings, but Riordan needs a few more results to go his way to secure that Dream Seat.
Victoria Livschitz is tied for seventh most cashes this PGT season with 14 as she sits 93rd on the PGT leaderboard with 521 PGT points. Like Riordan, Livschitz has made an impressive improvement on last PGT season's results, which saw her finish 231st overall with 243 PGT points and just four cashes.
Sitting 102nd on the PGT leaderboard with 477 PGT points, Dylan Linde has had several close calls among his 13 cashes this season, but he'll be relying on a Dream Seat to find himself in the PGT $1,000,000 Championship.
Daniel Sepiol secured his first PGT title at the Texas Poker Open this year and currently finds himself 162nd on the PGT leaderboard with 301 PGT points. Sepiol has eight cashes so far, but he'll need several more to be awarded a Dream Seat and find himself in his first PGT $1,000,000 Championship.
He's taken a lot of time away from the PGT felt, but Adam Hendrix still has the poker itch. He recently won the WPT World Championship at Wynn $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em for $629,000 to add to his Texas PLO Roundup $5k PLO High Roller victory. With a new-found bankroll boost, Hendrix should prioritize making a run at winning a Dream Seat so he can play the PGT $1,000,000 Championship.
Rounding out the list of PGT regulars is Chino Rheem, who currently sits 179th on the PGT leaderboard with 286 PGT points. Rheem had a huge 2023 PGT season, amassing 1,281 PGT points from 17 cashes and finishing 25th overall on the PGT leaderboard. Rheem's massive 2023 didn't carry through to this season, as the cards haven't fallen his way in big spots, cashing just six times for $275,842 in PGT earnings.
The simple answer is anyone. Any poker player can come and take a seat in PGT Last Chance and hope the deck hits them in the face and they can be one of three fortunate players to be awarded a Dream Seat.
Whether it's the recently crowned WPT World Championship winner, Scott Stewart, last year's PGT $1,000,000 Championship winner, Daniel Smiljkovic, or one of last year's Dream Seat winners, Dylan DeStefano.
The best part about PGT Last Chance and the unique series leaderboard featuring Dream Seats and Dream Passes is that anyone can find their way into the PGT $1,000,000 Championship. You have to be in it, to win it!
