RUNGOOD Poker Series Makes Dreams Come True on Poker After Dark
After the first two weeks of Poker After Dark action split cash games and winner-take-all sit and go’s, “Rumble with Jungle” week combined both formats to bring fans never-before-seen action. The three-day series also raised the stakes, with a huge sit and go opening the week and two of the biggest cash games in Poker After Dark history pitting some of the world’s best high stakes players against each other in back-to-back nights.
The first night of “Rumble with Jungle” featured what many considered to be one of the toughest Poker After Dark lineups in history and a $50,000 winner-take-all sit and go. Jason Koon and Brian Rast returned for another shot at PAD glory but online legend Isaac Haxton, High Roller Doug Polk, and former WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela, along with Daniel “Jungleman” Castes all made their PAD debuts. In the end, Koon and Rast found themselves heads up title and Koon finally broke through, to scoop the $300,000 prize pool.
Koon continued his run good in the first night of cash games. Despite taking an early loss to Matt Berkey, who joined the lineup, Koon ended as one of the biggest winners of the $300/$600 No Limit Hold’em session. The biggest cash game in PAD history played huge when the straddle was implemented but the most talked about hand of the night came before the table elected to bump it up. Matt Berkey brought back the “value bluff” and forced Daniel Cates to fold pocket kings, in a hand that had Twitter buzzing.
The same lineup that battled on Wednesday returned for the “Rumble with Jungle” finale and after making an expert fold to Daniel Cates in the first cash session, Rast made an expert call against Isaac Haxton. Rast explained his thoughts on the hand to Drea Renee during an exclusive in-game interview, before returning to see the already big game get even bigger. Through the last period of play, there was over seven-figures on the table and pots regularly eclipsed $250,000. Doug Polk was involved in some of the bigger confrontations and even though he booked a loss through the week, was one of the fan favorites in his first Poker After Dark appearance.
