The 2024 PokerGO Cup continued at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Stephen Chidwick bagged the top stack with 2,690,000 to lead the six remaining players in Event #5: $10,100 No-Limit Hold'em.
Joey Weissman, Justin Zaki, Sam Soverel, Joris Ruijs, and Justin Saliba round out the players who will return for the final day as play resumes at 12 p.m. PT on Wednesday, January 31 with the delayed final table stream beginning at 1 p.m. PT on PokerGO.
The field of 83 entrants created a prize pool of $830,000 and the top 12 finishers earned a piece of it. Chino Rheem was the unfortunate bubble boy when he got his stack of over 20 big blinds in with ace-seven and ran into Chidwick's ace-queen.
Lewis Spencer (12th), Daniel Negreanu (11th), Cary Katz (10th), Jonathan Little (9th), and Dan Shak (8th) all made it into the money but fell short of the final table.
The seven remaining players converged on a single table and Saliba nursed a short stack and found a couple of doubles to survive, before Ariel Mantel got his shorter stack in with ace-eight and ran into Weissman's aces. Mantel failed to improve and was eliminated in seventh place, while the remaining players bagged to return for the streamed final table.
The six players will return with $41,500 locked up, but all eyes will be on the $232,400 first-place prize, 232 PGT points, and the PGT Gold Cup awaiting the Event #5 champion.
Chidwick, Soverel, and Zaki all notched their first cash of the series, while Weissman and Saliba each picked up their second, and Ruijs grabbed his third. All will be looking to catch up to Event #3 winner Jonathan Little who currently sits atop the series leaderboard in the race for the PokerGO Cup and $25,000 PGT Passport.
