Poker Masters Event #1 Day 1 Recap

The first event of the 2018 Poker Masters was a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament that drew 69 entries to create a prize pool worth $690,000. After a long day of play, a total of 10 places got paid with Tom Marchese getting eliminated on money-bubble. The remaining 10 players were guaranteed $20,700.

The hand that burst the bubble also sent the tenth-place finisher home as it was Brandon Adams who won a big three-way all in. Marchese busted out holding ace-eight versus Matthias Eibinger’s queens and the tens of Adams. Marchese was all in before the flop while Eibinger shoved on the turn when the board read eight-jack-ten-five. There were three spades on board and Adams called with his set, and despite having both straight and flush draws to go along with his overpair, the Austrian pro was knocked out when the river brought a blank.

The next player to go was Cary Katz who exited in ninth place for $20,700 after an unfortunate runout. Katz was all-in with ace-ten versus the ace-nine of David Peters who caught a nine on the river. Ali Imsirovic busted in eighth place for $27,600 when his ace-nine of clubs did not hold up against the ace-eight of hearts held by Rainer Kempe. The German pro spiked an eight on the turn to jump into third place on the standings.

The last player to hit the rail on the first day was David Eldridge who took home $34,500 for finishing in seventh place. Eldridge ended up all-in holding ten-four on a ten-high flop, but that was no good against the queen-ten of Rainer Kempe. The board ran dry and Kempe knocked out another player to set up the final table that you can catch on NBC Sports tonight.
