The Texas Poker Open $3,300 Main Event continued from Champions Club in Houston, Texas on Saturday, featuring a $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Day 1F drew 215 entries, bringing the total field size to 581 entries through the first six starting flights. Leading the 27 Day 1F survivors is Viet Vo with 1,490,000.
Vo rode a late-night rush to not only bag the Day 1F chip lead, but also grab the overall tournament chip lead to this point. It started with a standard race during Level 16, with Vo all in for about 30 big blinds holding ace-queen against Santiago Garza's pocket tens. An ace came on the flop and Vo won the coinflip to get things going.
After chipping up as the bubble approached, Vo took the lead and cemented it by eliminating Andrea Sager on the Day 1F bubble. Vo was behind with pocket sevens against Sager's pocket jacks, but Vo flopped a seven and held up to send the remaining 27 players onward, joining 46 others so far.
All Day 1 survivors will combine for Day 2 on Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. CT.
