Event #57 – $2,500 Omaha Hi-Lo/Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Mixed
While Smith Sirisakorn ended up in the Event #57 winners circle, Samoeun Mon was the most excitable player from the Omaha Hi-Lo/Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Mixed final table. Mon’s energetic table presence wasn’t enough to earn himself a WSOP bracelet but it see the East Coaster outlast poker legend Barry Greenstein and notch a career-best WSOP finish in 5th place.
Event #59 – $2,500 Mixed Big Bet
It is only Monday but something tells me Jens Lakemeier is going to be the Poker Central Podcast’s German of the Week. Lakemeier won the $2,500 Mixed Big Bet title this past weekend, outlasting a field of nearly 200 players in a tournament that included No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, 2-7 No Limit Draw Lowball, No Limit 5 Card Draw, Big O, Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo and 2-7 Pot Limit Triple Draw.
Event #61 – $3,333 WSOP.com ONLINE High Roller
This year, there are three bracelets up for grabs on WSOP.com and this past weekend, a former November Niner claimed the biggest one of them all. New Jersey’s Tom Cannuli bested a strong final table, which included England’s Adam Owen, mixed game specialist Dan Zack and WSOP Circuit Main Event champion Ryan Jones, to take down the $3,333 WSOP.com ONLINE High Roller. Cannuli earned $322,000 for his win and his best result at the WSOP since his 6th place finish in the Main Event two years ago.
Event #62 – $50,000 Poker Players Championship
One of the biggest and most prestigious events at the World Series began yesterday and while registration is still open through the start of Day 2, the Poker Players Championship leader board is already stacked. Matthew Ashton leads after a few levels of play but Johnny Chan, pictured top, who has ten WSOP gold bracelets and is featured in a new Pokerography episode, currently sits with a top-ten stack.
