Following a rise in numbers in 2018, the 2019 WSOP Main Event would surpass that mark and set a new record for the second-largest turnout in WSOP Main Event history as the 8,569-player field created a prize pool of over $80.5 million as it fell short of the record set in 2006 by just over 200 players.

The final table again played out in January over three nights as six countries were represented – four from the United States, and one each from Canada, Germany, Italy, Serbia, and the United Kingdom. Germany’s Hossein Ensan held a commanding chip lead heading into the final table and would continue to hold it after Day 1 saw four players hit the rail. Local Garry Gates closed the gap on Ensan, but he would be one of the two players eliminated on Day 2 as Ensan extended his lead ahead of Canadian Alex Livingston and Italian Dario Sammartino. The final night would last just under 200 hands as Livingston fell in third, and Sammartino exited in second before Ensan would be crowned the 2019 WSOP Main Event champion and recipient of the $10 million first-place prize.

Prior to winning the 2019 WSOP Main Event, Ensan has amassed nearly $2.7 million in lifetime tournament earnings which included a 2015 EPT Prague Main Event victory for €754,510 and a WSOP-Circuit Rozvadov Main Event win for €184,812. Already a well-respected player in Europe, Ensan’s only result in North America was a 15th-place finish in the 2018 Global Casino Championship for $14,467. Ensan was also part of PokerGO’s 2019 WSOP Main Event – Top 5 Hands | World Series of Poker where he was involved in three hands.

There are 15 episodes from the 2019 WSOP Main Event available now on PokerGO with coverage beginning on Day 5. The three episodes from Day 5 feature tournament veterans Dario Sammartino, Matt Stout, Antonio Esfandiari, Yuri Dzivielevski, and Jake Schindler, along with NFL Super Bowl champion Richard Seymour. Day 6 is split over four episodes and features high roller players Alex Foxen and Sam Greenwood on the feature tables alongside Esfandiari and Sammartino. New faces to the coverage include the emergence of Timothy Su and Gates.

Day 7 is spread over five episodes and begins with 28 players remaining and Su holding the chip lead. Su’s time at the top would eventually end at the hands of Ensan as several new faces emerge that include Australian Warwick Mirzikinian, final tablist Nicholas Marchington, Michael Niwinski who follows his 15th-place finish in 2016 with a 12th-place finish in 2019, and the final table bubble boy Robert Heidorn.

There are three episodes dedicated to the final table of the 2019 WSOP Main Event. Day 1 sees the final table reduced to the final five players as Zhen Cai, Milos Skrbic, Su, and Marchington are all eliminated, while Day 2 sees Kevin Maahs and Gates hit the rail. The final episode begins with just three players and inevitably crown Ensan as the 2019 WSOP Main Event champion and become the second champion from Germany.
