The 2024 PGT PLO Series II presented by PLO Mastermind at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, has come to a conclusion with Event #9: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Bounty being won by Anthony Hu.
Hu notches his second PGT title with the victory after having won a $15K No Limit Hold'em event during the 2023 PokerGO Cup and now eclipses $2,600,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, according to The Hendon Mob.
The final event of the series attracted 84 entrants to generate a prize pool of $420,000 which paid the top 12 places. Ren Lin was the unfortunate bubble boy when he got his chips in ahead before his opponent made a set. Noah Boeken (12th), Artem Maksimov (11th), Daniel Geeng (10th), Elias Harala (9th), and Bryce Yockey (8th) were the next to fall before the final table was set.
Matthew Wantman needed a fifth-place finish or better to lock up the series title and simultaneously was sweating the championship event. Samuli Sipila needed to win the championship event for a shot at the series title, and when Sipila finished runner-up, Wantman clinched the PGT Gold Cup and $10,000 PGT Passport.
Wantman would then be eliminated in seventh place in a three-way all-in, while Daniel Negreanu was eliminated in sixth place after he got the rest of his short stack in and failed to improve. Chase Steely was the next to go in fifth place when he ran into Hu's nuts, and Erik Seidel was gone in fourth place when Hu improved to a full house. Three-handed play saw chips exchanged for half an hour before Frank Brannan was eliminated in third place after he got his chips in with kings and was ahead on the flop before Jonathan Bowers turned trips.
Hu came into heads-up play with a 3:1 deficit against Bowers before he clawed back to nearly even the stacks. The two players decided to flip for the tournament and Hu was on the fortunate end to claim the $70,560 first-place prize in addition to $16,000 in bounties and the Event #9 trophy.
