The Texas Poker Open $3,300 Main Event kicked off at Champions Club in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, featuring a $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Day 1A drew 60 entries and leading the eight advancing players is Brendon O'Neal with 892,000.

O'Neal found a late-night rush with 20 players remaining, starting with a fortunate double holding ace-jack against Ernest Bush's ace-king. Bush flopped a king, but O'Neal found running hearts to make an ace-high flush to double. Shortly after, O'Neal picked up pocket aces and eliminated Salvatore Valenti, who had held the chip lead for much of the middle stages of the day.

When play reached the final table, O'Neal was second in chips and after eliminating Elliot Smith on the Day 1A bubble, O'Neal locked up the chip lead to bring Day 1A to a close. All Day 1 survivors will combine for Day 2 on Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. CT.
