The 2024 Super High Roller Series continued from the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Spa in North Cyprus, with Event #2: $25,750 No-Limit Hold'em (7-Max).
Benjamin Heath avenged his Event #1 final table bubble elimination by finishing as the chip leader in Event #2 with 2,220,000 in chips. Heath leads ahead of PGT leaderboard heavyweights Jeremy Ausmus, Aram Zobian, and Ren Lin, while also still in contention are Felipe Ketzer, Lewis Spencer, and Quan Zhao. These seven players all return on Monday, August 19, to play down to a winner who will take home the $316,000 first-place prize, 190 PGT points, and the PGT Gold Cup.
The 39-entrant field created a prize pool of $995,500 that will pay the final six players. PGT regulars and title holders such as Artur Martirosyan, Mikita Badziakouski, Seth Davies, Nick Petrangelo, Adrian Mateos, Alex Kulev, Masashi Oya, Koray Aldemir, Daniel Dvoress and Phil Ivey were all in contention before hitting the rail prior to the conclusion of Day 1.
On the cusp of reaching the final table with eight players remaining, Hrabec doubled when he called all-in with queen-jack to be trailing the king-eight of Heath. Hrabec flopped a jack and doubled through to be out of the danger zone. However, a few lands later, Hrabec was all-in holding ace-king against the ace-ten of Heath. Both players flopped a gutshot, and when the king landed on the river, Heath improved to Broadway and eliminated Hrabec on the final table bubble in eighth place.
The final table will see four countries represented among the final seven with two each from China, the United States, and the United Kingdom, along with one from Brazil. The lion's share of the chips belong to England with chip leader Heath and Spencer dominating the leaderboard. Only the final six will finish in the money meaning that the final table will begin on the money bubble.
