The 2024 PGT PLO Series presented by PLO Mastermind at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, has come to a conclusion with Event #10: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Dealer's Choice being won by James Calderaro.
Calderaro made his debut in the PGT PLO Series with an 11th-place finish in Event #8: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha for $37,500 and then followed that up with a victory in the final event for $56,700. This was Calderaro's first PGT title and his first Pot-Limit Omaha win since his only WSOP bracelet in the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller at the 2017 WSOP. Calderaro now eclipses $5,850,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, according to The Hendon Mob.
The final event of the 2024 PGT PLO Series attracted 21 entrants and paid the final three players. Following the elimination of William Leffingwell on the money bubble in fourth place, it would be Alex Condon out in third place for $16,800 in prize money. Calderaro held a slight chip lead over Allan Le, but Le slowly chipped away at Calderaro eventually grinding him down to just a few big blinds.
Calderaro went on a rush of doubles to take back the lead, but soon enough, Le took it back and continue to pressure Calderaro. With the blinds high and chips trading back-and-forth between both players, it was on Calderaro to choose a game. He decided to run back Le's choice of Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo and said, "Let's finish him with his own poison."
On that hand, all the chips entered the pot on the flop with Calderaro ahead with his overpair. Le held a flush draw and backdoor straight and low draws, but when the turn and river bricked out, he was eliminated in second place for $31,500 in prize money and his fourth cash of the series.
