The 2023 PGT PLO Series II continued at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada with Event #6: $10,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Dealer's Choice.
Joao Simao bagged the chip lead and holds 45% of the chips in play as only five players remain. Veselin Karakitukov, Jordan Spurlin, Alex Foxen, and Tyler Brown round out the players who will return for the final day as play resumes at 12 p.m. PT on Wednesday, October 25.
The 65-entrant field created a total prize pool of $650,000 and the top 10 players earned a piece. Ben Lamb was the unfortunate bubble boy when he lost his remaining stack to Simao. Among those to cash were Alex Livingston (10th), Nick Guagenti (9th), and Hassan Kamel (8th).
When seven players remained, they converged on a single table and a wild three-way all-in would soon occur. During a hand of PLO, Karakitukov and Spurlin were at risk against Jim Collopy. Spurlin and Collopy both had aces, but Karakitukov made a flush to take the main pot, while Spurlin made a straight to claim the side pot. Collopy was eliminated in seventh place shortly after, and Zhen Cai was eliminated in sixth place when he ran into Simao's aces. The five players played until 1:30 a.m. when they decided to bag and return the next day to play down to a winner.
Simao picked up his third cash of the series, while Foxen and Karakitukov each snagged their second. Brown and Spurlin each notched their first, while Stephen Hubbard remains on top of the PGT PLO Series II leaderboard in the race for the $25,000 championship bonus and PGT Gold Cup
Each player has locked up $52,000 but all eyes will be on the $182,000 first-place prize, 182 PGT points, and Event #6 trophy.
