The PokerGO Cup continued on Wednesday from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the final event of the series, Event #8: $25,200 No-Limit Hold’em. The tournament drew 59 entries and Joey Weissman leads the final seven players.

Weissman hung around the middle of the field for most of the day, but started running hot in the ladder half after he and Sean Winter got it all in with nearly even stacks, along with Christopher Frank, in a hand that saw Winter eliminated and Weissman nearly triple. He then took another big pot off of Frank, and one off Aram Zobian as well. Weissman reached the 1,000,000 chip mark when he shoved the river in a blind-vs-blind hand against Christian Roberts, and Roberts laid it down.

The field of 59 entrants created a prize pool worth $1,475,000 and the final 9 players earned at least $44,250. Eric Wasserson was the unfortunate bubble boy when his ace-ten of clubs couldn't find a hold against the ace-nine offsuit of Weissman after Weissman turned a nine. David Peters (9th) and Keith Lehr (8th) both fell in the money.

Lehr just missed the final table after finishing in eighth place when his ace-king offsuit couldn't improve against the pocket jacks of Sam Soverel. The knockout sent Soverel over the 2,000,000 chip mark.

Weissman leads a final table that includes Soverel, Justin Zaki, Michael Berk, Clemen Deng, Jesse Lonis, and Roberts. This is Weissman's fourth final table of the series and he'll be looking to collect his second win. However, he'll have Roberts to contend with, who's coming off a fourth-place finish in Event #6 and sits close to Weissman in chips at 1,880,000. Right behind him is Zaki, with 1,825,000, and high-stakes crusher Soverel with 1,495,000 to round out the top three stacks.

The seven remaining players have all locked up at least $59,000, but everyone will be gunning for the $472,000 first-place prize, 283 PGT points, and the Event #8 trophy. The final table will start on Thursday at 2 p.m. and stream on PokerGO at 3 p.m.

Weissman came into the day as the overall PGT points leader, but was threatened by a deep run from Adam Hendrix, as Hendrix could overtake him with a win if Weissman didn't cash. However, in a fitting conclusion, Weissman eliminated Hendrix in 14th place when the two collided in an all-in pot where Hendrix held ace-jack of spades against the pocket nines of Weissman. Weissman found a clean runout and by eliminating Hendrix, locked up the PokerGO Cup and $25,000 PGT Passport.
