Chino Rheem Takes Home 5th Career PGT Title
The 2025 PGT season continued with the first PGT major, concluding with Joey Weissman being crowned the PokerGO Cup champion. His incredible performance across the eight-event series propelled him to the top spot on the PGT leaderboard.
The season's second series would be the fifth annual PokerGO Cup, including eight No-Limit Hold'em events, culminating in the $25k finale. The theme of breaking records in 2025 continued as the PokerGO Cup set records with the largest $5k buy-in field of 177 entrants and the largest $10k buy-in field of 129 entrants. Weissman won Event #2 and finished runner-up in Event #1, #4, and #8, amassing 758 PGT points on his way to being crowned the PokerGO Cup champion. Combined with his two cashes at PGT Kickoff, he now has 907 PGT points and $1,005,300 in PGT earnings to open the 2025 PGT season.
Kristen Foxen relinquished her lead on top of the PGT leaderboard, but swiftly took it back following her victory in Event #7 of the PokerGO Cup for $348,300 and 279 PGT points. Foxen finishes the PokerGO Cup with 857 PGT points to sit second overall on the PGT leaderboard. Eric Blair had two cashes at PGT Kickoff and added three more at PokerGO Cup to sit third overall on the PGT leaderboard with 722 PGT points. At the PokerGO Cup, he won Event #4 and #6 to claim his first two PGT titles, and sit in a comfortable position to making a run at qualifying for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship.
Patrick Leonard collected three cashes at the PokerGO Cup, including a runner-up finish to Foxen, to improve to 586 PGT points and fourth place on the PGT leaderboard. Leonard is expected to play both the PGT Mixed Games and PGT PLO Series unlike the three players above him, so Leonard could find himself on top of the PGT leaderboard prior to the next No-Limit Hold'em only series in April. Rounding out the top five is Michael Moncek with 484 PGT points. He won the opening event of the PokerGO Cup, and cashed two additional times to amass 484 PGT points.
Both Nick Schulman and Erik Seidel enter the PGT leaderboard top ten with 344 PGT points and 330 PGT points, respectively. Both will likely pick up PGT points at PGT Mixed Games and the PGT PLO Series, and make a run at entering the top five, and potentially dethroning Weissman on top.
