The 2024 PokerGO Cup culminated at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and John Riordan bagged the top stack with 2,510,000 to lead the six remaining players in the final event of the series, Event #8: $25,200 No-Limit Hold'em.
Justin Zaki, Shaneil Stokes, Seth Davies, Jonathan Little, and Justin Saliba round out the players who will return for the final day as play resumes at 2 p.m. PT on Saturday, February 3 with the delayed final table stream beginning at 3 p.m. PT on PokerGO.
The field of 55 entrants created a prize pool of $1,375,000 and the top eight finishers earned a piece of it. Nick Schulman was the unfortunate bubble boy when he got his short stack in with aces and was against Riordan's queen-nine. Riordan turned two pair to crack the aces, and Schulman was eliminated on the bubble.
Stephen Chidwick was then eliminated in eighth place when he called off the rest of his chips on the river against Riordan and the seven remaining players converged on a single table. Little scored a double before Jim Collopy got his short stack in against Little. Collopy found no help after he ran ace-six into ace-king and was eliminated in seventh place, while the remaining players bagged to return for the streamed final table.
The six players will return with $82,500 locked up, but all eyes will be on the $453,750 first-place prize, 272 PGT points, and the PGT Gold Cup awaiting the Event #8 champion.
David Peters currently sits atop the series leaderboard with 457 points in the race for the PokerGO Cup trophy and $25,000 PGT Passport. Little (277 points), Zaki (232 points), and Davies (211 points) will all have an opportunity to overtake him, but each will need to end up victorious in this event to claim the PokerGO Cup series title when the final table resumes on stream.
