The 2025 PGT season is underway, and Kristen Foxen sits on top of the PGT leaderboard following the conclusion of PGT Kickoff.
The season's opening series awarded double PGT points to springboard people up the PGT leaderboard. The five-event series shattered the previous year's numbers with a massive increase in entrants and unique players. As was the case in 2024, Foxen won the series finale, which was also the only $10,100 buy-in of the series, for $197,625 in prize money after chopping heads-up with Joao Simao. Foxen and Simao opted to play for the PGT points, and Foxen emerged victorious to be awarded 484 PGT points for first place. Combined with her cashes in Event #3 and Event #4, Foxen sits with 525 PGT points and $218,275 in PGT earnings to begin the season on top of the PGT leaderboard.
PokerGO Studio newcomer Patrick Leonard won Event #2: $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em, and combined with his cashes in Event #1 and Event #4, sits second on the PGT leaderboard with 342 PGT points. Following his runner-up finish and an Event #3 cash, Simao is third overall with 324 PGT points. Spencer Champlin won the biggest event of the series as Event #4: $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em attracted 126 entrants. Champlin captured his second PGT title and won $157,500 in prize money for 315 PGT points. Masato Yokosawa won Event #3: $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em for $142,800 in prize money and 286 PGT points. Champlin and Yokosawa round out the top five on the PGT leaderboard.
Andrew Lichtenberger won Event #1: $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em for $117,600 and 235 PGT points and sits sixth on the PGT leaderboard, while Nick Seward, Neil Warren, Stephen Song, and Michael Vanier round out the top ten on the PGT leaderboard.
2024 PGT Player of the Year Jeremy Ausmus finished fourth in Event #5 for his only series cash, and he sits 11th overall on the PGT leaderboard. Aram Zobian (9th in 2024) sits 13th, Nick Schulman (8th in 2024) sits 15th, and Jesse Lonis (4th in 2024) sits 25th. PGT regulars who didn't participate in PGT Kickoff included Daniel Negreanu (2nd in 2024), Seth Davies (3rd in 2024), Jim Collopy (7th in 2024), and David Coleman (10th in 2024).
