Lautaro Guerra came into the Event #1 final table with the chip lead, but three hands into the day, he found himself near the bottom of the leaderboard and in rough waters but the Spanish Pro weathered the storm to capture the title, and the $178,250 first-place prize in the opening event of the 2024 PGT PLO Series II, presented by PLO Mastermind.
The win marks Guerra's fourth PGT title, all coming during the PGT PLO Series, but his first since capturing three titles en route to the inaugural PGT PLO series title back in March 2023.

Short stacks Jonathan Little and Christopher Costa clashed on the first hand of the day, and Costa came out on top when he turned trips to best Little's pocket nines, sending him to the rail in sixth place for $38,750.
Guerra would then get in on the action in hand number two when he turned the two pair to send Johnson Phanyaseng and his over pair to the payout desk in fifth place for $46,500 as Phanyaseng's first appearance at a PGT final table ended in swift fashion.
In a sign of things to come, the action would stay fast and furious as in hand number three, Guerra would find himself with the nut flush on the river, but it was no good as Josh Arieh had turned a full house to vault into the chip lead.
Short stack Costa would then find a double through Sean Troha, but the momentum was short-lived as Arieh would put a quick stop to his hopes when he turned a straight against Costa's over pair sending him to the rail in fourth place for $58,125.
Arieh held a nearly three-to-one chip lead over both his opponents as three-handed play began, and while he whittled both players down, Guerra refused to go away as the four-time PGT PLO series champion would pick up a double when his over pair of kings held against Arieh's flopped pair and a gutshot.
Guerra would then come all the way back to retake the chip lead in a blind vs. blind battle when he flopped top set with Kings as Arieh attempted to make a move on the turn with a double gutshot straight draw.
With the chip stacks entirely flipped back in Guerra's favor, he went to work and sent Troha to the rail in third place for $77,500 when he turned a flush in another blind vs. blind confrontation.
The final nail in the coffin for Arieh came in a limped pot as his flopped top pair would go down in flames to Guerra's turned two pair. Arieh had 18 outs once to stay alive and pull even, but the river bricked; Arieh headed to the payout desk in second place for $112,375, and the final table was over in a brisk hour and a half.
Event #1: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha, presented by PLO Mastermind, got the third edition of the PGT PLO Series underway in overwhelming fashion. One hundred fifty-five entrants made their way into the PokerGO Studio, creating a prize pool of $775,000, and the final 23 players took home their share of the pot.
Finland's Santtu Leinonen was the unfortunate bubble boy when he got his short stack in the middle, having Guerra dominate, but the Spaniard turned two pair to send the players into the money.
2022 WSOP Main Event third-place finisher Michael Duek (21st), PGT Commentator Nick Schulman (20th), and PGT PLO Series II champion Daniel Geeng (19th) were among the notables who finished inside the money but failed to reach the final table.
David Coleman was the only member of the 2024 PGT Season top 10 to find a cash in Event #1 but remains in ninth place after only picking up 23 points with his ninth place finish.
