The inaugural Super High Roller Bowl: $100k Mixed Games kicked off from the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada, with 25 entrants taking a seat throughout the opening day of play.
After eight levels of play, the field was reduced to 17 players with Michael Moncek dominating the final 90 minutes of play to finish as the chip leader. Moncek entered the tournament midway through the penultimate level of play and rode a Pot-Limit Omaha heater to finish with 1,438,000 in chips.
Moncek eliminated Nick Schulman after his straight draw spiked on the turn before he played a massive pot with Talal Shakerchi and Albert Daher. With 167,000 in the middle on the flop, Shakerchi bet the pot, Daher reraised pot, and Moncek moved all-in with a wrap. Shakerchi had a combination of pairs and flush draws, and Moncek turned his straight and faded the river to eliminate Shakerchi and leave Daher short.
Moncek bagged more than 600,000 more than his nearest rival, Daniel Negreanu. The 10-time PGT title winner ended with 819,000 in chips and leads Matthew Ashton (781,000), Benny Glaser (780,000), John Racener (554,000), and Scott Seiver (523,000) as the only players with an above-average chip stack.
Others surviving into Day 2 include Chad Eveslage, Philip Sternheimer, Jason Mercier, Eric Wasserson, Maxx Coleman, Brian Rast, Johannes Becker, Talal Shakerchi, Ray Dehkharghani, J. David Rogers, and Nick Guagenti.
