Since Poker After Dark rebooted this past summer, each week has had a distinct theme. There were legendary returns, talkative tables, rumbles, and more in 2017. Next year will open with another theme, as Poker After Dark brings seven of poker’s most successful and popular female players for “Femme Fatale” week.
Kristen Bicknell, Kathy Liebert, Sofia Lövgren, Kitty Kuo, JJ Liu, Melanie Weisner, and Tracy Nguyen will play two nights of $100/$200 No Limit Hold’em cash games, beginning Wednesday, January 3rd. The same group will return on Thursday, January 4th and both games will feature a $20,000 minimum buy-in.
Kristin Bicknell added over $500,000 to her tournament resume in 2017, while earning GPI Female Player of the Year honors. One of Bicknell’s best results from this past year came in the $10,000 NLH Six-Handed Championship at the World Series of Poker. The Canadian finished 6th in that event, adding to an already immaculate WSOP resume that includes bracelet victories in 2013 and 2016.
While Bicknell’s WSOP success has come over the last few years, Kathy Liebert has had WSOP success for over a decade. Liebert made her first WSOP final table in 2002 and won her first bracelet in 2004. She has amassed over $6 million in career tournament earnings, which makes Liebert one of the winningest female players in poker history.
Sweden’s Sofia Lövgren has tons of cash game experience and the 888poker professional has tournament results from around the world. The same can be said about Taiwan’s Kitty Kuo. Kitty has amassed over $1.4 million in career earnings, with results coming from seemingly every corner of the globe. She is no stranger to high stakes either, with multiple results in big buy-in events.
Both Lövgren and Kuo join the growing list of international players that have made their debuts since Poker After Dark‘s summer reboot, but unlike the rest of the “Femme Fatale” lineup, JJ Liu will not be making her Poker After Dark debut this week. Liu was featured in the “Gus & Ladies” lineup during Season 3 and those episodes are available in PokerGO’s THE VAULT.
Much like Liebert, Liu is one of the most successful female players of all time. She has amassed over $3 million in tournament earnings throughout her career, including multiple deep runs in World Poker Tour events.
While Liu is most known in the live arena, Melanie Weisner has been a successful live and online player for the better part of the last decade. The New Yorker has over $1.5 million in tournament earnings from both live and online play, including three cashes in the WSOP Main Event.
The WSOP Main Event is also where Tracy Nguyen recorded her career-best score this past summer. The Minnesotan was one of the last women standing in this year’s event, before bowing out in 145th place for a $53,000 result. She’ll make her Poker After Dark debut this week and round out the “Femme Fatale” lineup.
