The U.S. Poker Open continued Friday, with the final table of Event #7 on PokerGO and Day 1 of the $50,000 NLH Main Event playing in the ARIA Poker Room. USPO Championship leader Stephen Chidwick was again featured on a final table broadcast and even though he fell heads up to David Peters, Chidwick’s runner-up finish in the final $25,000 High Roller of the series more or less confirmed his USPO Championship victory.
That victory was confirmed when Day 1 of the Main Event concluded. 33 entries had built up a sizable prize pool, but only $660,000 will go to the Event #8 victor, meaning the rest of the Main Event field is unable to catch Chidwick, who has amassed over $1.2 million in USPO earnings through seven events.
While Chidwick has locked up the USPO Championship title, he’ll have some work to do if he wants to get back to another final table. Chidwick, along with Cary Katz and Tom Marchese, were the last entrants in Event #8, meaning they’ll start Day 2 with 150,000 chip starting stacks.
On the other end of the spectrum, are some of the world’s best players.
2015 Super High Roller Bowl winner Brian Rast holds the chip lead, with over 850,000, while USPO $10,000 High Roller winner Ben Tollerene bagged 620,000. Keith Tilston, Daniel Negreanu, and Benjamin Pollak each bagged just shy of 500,000.
Jake Schindler and Bryn Kenney were also just off that pace and the rest of the 13-player Day 2 field will begin under the chip average. A complete list of chip counts can be found below:
Brian Rast – 886,500
Ben Tollerene – 620,500
Keith Tilston – 488,500
Daniel Negreanu – 461,000
Benjamin Pollak – 454,000
Jake Schindler – 449,000
Bryn Kenney – 445,000
Justin Bonomo – 198,500
Adrian Mateos – 192,500
Stephen Chidwick – 150,000
Cary Katz – 150,000
Tom Marchese – 150,000
Dan Smith – 104,000
A look at the Day 2 seating assignments can be found here and it should be noted that Day 2 of the $50,000 Main Event is scheduled to resume at 2:00 PM PT. PokerGO will begin streaming once two tables remain, beginning at 5 PM PT. If the field get down to the final two tables before that time, players will take an extended break to make sure PokerGO viewers don’t miss any of the action.
Day 2 is scheduled to play down to a six-handed final table, which will play to a winner on PokerGO on Sunday. That schedule is subject to change, but if it holds, the U.S. Poker Open $50,000 Main Event bubble won’t burst until Sunday.
