The PokerGO Cup continued on Wednesday from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Event #2: $10,100 No-Limit Hold’em. The tournament drew 118 entries and Sam Laskowitz leads the final seven players.
Laskowitz held a respectable stack for much of the day before he picked up aces and scored a big double against ace-king to catapult into the chip lead. He leads a final table that includes Michael Moncek, Andrew Moreno, Erik Seidel, Andrew Lichtenberger, Joey Weissman, and Anthony Hu. These seven players will return on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. already guaranteed $47,200. Up top for the winner is the $295,000 first-place prize, 295 PGT points, and the Event #2 trophy.
The field of 118 entrants created a prize pool of $1,180,000 and the final 17 players earned a piece of it. Yi Klassen was the unfortunate bubble girl when she got her shorter stack in with ace-ten and ran into pocket aces and ace-king. Christian Roberts (17th), Eshaan Bhalla (16th), Patrick Leonard (15th), Kristen Foxen (14th), Justin Saliba (13th), Matthew McEwan (12th), Keith Lehr (11th), Clemen Deng (10th), and Michael Berk (9th) were the first to fall in the money.
On the final hand of the night, Manuel Fritz got his stack of about ten big blinds in with ace-four against Moncek's nines. An ace landed on the flop, but one of the two remaining nines fell on the river to eliminate Fritz in eighth place, and the seven remaining players bagged to return for the streamed final table.
Moncek will be looking to go back-to-back after winning Event #1, while Weissman is also returning to his second consecutive final table and will hope to improve upon his runner-up finish from the first event. The other five players at the final table each notched their first cash of the series.
