Sean Troha won his third WSOP bracelet in Event #24: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Championship at the 2024 World Series of Poker for $536,713. Troha defeated fellow Pot-Limit Omaha specialist Tyler Brown in heads-up play to win his third WSOP bracelet since 2022.
This was also Troha's third bracelet in Pot-Limit Omaha having won the 2022 $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship for $1,246,770 and the 2023 $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha for $298,192. Along with three WSOP bracelets, Troha also holds three PGT titles, including the 2023 PGT PLO Series $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo title for $200,000. With his victory in Event #23, Troha improves his lifetime tournament earnings to more than $3,083,000, according to The Hendon Mob.
The 259-entrant field in Event #24: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Championship created a prize pool of $2,408,700 which paid the final 39 players. Some players finishing in the money prior to the final day included Allan Le (38th), Nick Schulman (36th), Jeff Madsen (34th), Aaron Kupin (33rd), Marco Johnson (32nd), Nick Guagenti (29th), Dylan Weisman (28th), James Obst (27th), Jesse Lonis (26th), Scott Seiver (24th), Phil Ivey (23rd), Johannes Becker (19th), Alex Foxen (16th), and Viktor Blom (14th).
The final day of play would see 13 players return with Robert Tanita holding the chip lead. Sean Winter was an early casualty with his suited aces fell to the trips of Bradley Ruben, and he was followed by Magnus Edengren and Jonathan Cohen in 12th and 11th place, respectively. Once Sterling Lopez was eliminated in tenth place, the final nine redraw to one table with Brown holding a big chip lead with Troha sitting second overall. Joshua Thibodaux exited in ninth to extend Brown's chip lead, while Troha eliminated Luis Velador in eighth place.
Ruben would fall in seventh when he was eliminated by Brown, while Philip Shing's run finished in sixth place when overnight chip leader Tanita made a straight and a low to scoop. Tanita's tournament would end in fifth place at the hands of Brown as the 2023 Mystery Millions winner held more than half of the chips in play. It would be two Brazilians taking on two Americans, but unfortunately, both South Americans exited in fourth and third place. Yuri Dzivielevski was eliminated by Brown in fourth when his low and flush draw bricked out, while Simao also fell to Brown when his his straight and flush draw bricked out against Brown's pair.
Brown held better than a two-to-one chip lead heading into heads-up play, and immediately pushed that out to nearly a four-to-one advantage. However, Troha began to fight back and managed a double when he flopped the nut straight against Brown's double-barrel bluff. The final hand occurred shortly after when Brown was all-in with ace-queen-ten-six double suited, but ran into the kings of Troha. Troha flopped top set, turned a full house, and claimed the Event #24 bracelet for $536,713 in prize money.
