Through the first few days of the U.S. Poker Open, three players have won battles, but the outcome of the war is still to be decided. That is because the USPO Championship trophy doesn’t go to the player that starts the fastest or was the most successful through the first few events of the series. The USPO Championship trophy will go to the winningest player throughout the series, meaning that the war won’t be over until the $50,000 NLH Main Event concludes.
Notice how the number before the “players have won battles” phrase is the same as it was in Tuesday’s USPO Championship standings update? That’s because Stephen Chidwick went back-to-back and won the $25,000 Mixed Game Championship.
Stephen Chidwick is still way out in front, but @Jake__Schindler can move into the #USPO Championship top-five with a deep run in Event #5.
Will he do it? Watch the $10K High Roller final table to find out! https://t.co/4E2f3MYHuj pic.twitter.com/l9dRNP4l8P— PokerGO (@PokerGO) February 7, 2018
Through four events, Chidwick has cashed for over $800,000, giving himself a substantial lead at the stop of the standings. While he won’t be increasing his total on Wednesday, his #1 spot is not at risk.
In fact, Wednesday’s $10,000 High Roller final table won’t really alter the USPO Championship standings. Of the players at the final table, only Cary Katz and Jake Schindler have already recorded USPO cashes prior to Event #5. Katz will have to finish 1st or 2nd to break into the top-five, while Schindler can with a podium finish.
If those shake ups do occur, you can watch them in real time on PokerGO, when the Event #5 final table begins at 4:00 PM ET. Subscribe now to watch the world’s best players compete in the eight-event U.S. Poker Open on PokerGO.
