Scott Seiver Wins 2024 WSOP Player of the Year
Seven WSOP bracelet events took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, as Simeon Spasov was the only winner on Day 9 of the 2024 World Series of Poker. Robert Mizrachi leads just three remaining players in the Dealer's Choice Championship, with Caleb Furth, Nate Silver and James Calderaro all having stirring days at the felt in Sin City.
The Bulgarian player Simeon Spasov won Event #12, the $1,500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em event as the rail was in place for live action on PokerGO for the 2024 World Series of Poker. An exciting day began with 17 players still in play as players such as Patrick Truong, Daniel Buzgon, and Tommy Nguyen all missed out on the business end of the event. Anthony Marquez bubbled the final table after losing with ace-king to John Henry Gordon's pocket aces in a pot worth 20 million chips.
Gordon entered the final table with a massive lead due to that premium hand and knocked out Joseph Brum Pacheco when queen-jack found a straight against the Brazilian's pocket sevens. Spasov, who had been quiet since the final table began, suddenly kicked into action as he took out the overnight leader Daniel Palau when ace-queen beat pocket nines.
Gordon swung back into action, taking out Mark Dube in fifth, Chih Fan in fourth and Steve Yea in third to go into the final heads-up duel with around 60% of the chips in play.
Spasov was undeterred as he bullied his way into a 2:1 chip lead after a raise on a river where Gordon made a big bluff, in doing so giving away his lead. Gordon fought back again in a topsy-turvy battle as the stacks were almost level. Spasov then went on the attack and seized control and the chip advantage before getting his chips into the middle with a made flush against Gordon's two-pair. The American needed to find a full house but it never came and the Bulgarian rail went crazy as Spasov claimed his second WSOP title and the top prize of $439,815.

Just three players remain in with a chance of winning the Dealer's Choice Championship and the 13th event on the World Series of Poker 2024 schedule. Robert Mizrachi has a slim chip lead with just an extended - and short - day expected tomorrow, with his 3.62m chips ahead of Michael Martinelli's 3.29m stack. Japanese player Ryutaro Suzuki will be hoping he had put the pedal to the metal on his stack of 1.55 million chips.
The penultimate day of the event saw Daniel Negreanu (10th) and Phil Ivey (11th) both just miss out on the final table of six, cashing for $27,041 each. At the final table, Richard Bai (6th) and David Bach (5th) both bowed out before the elimination of bracelet winner and former Main Event finalist Ben Lamb in fourth, as he cashed for $99,885, the last five-figure prize of the event.
Tomorrow, the winner will receive $333,045 and the much-coveted bracelet.
