The World Series of Poker (WSOP) announced its plans for 2021 which will include a return to live play at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino from September 30 – November 23, along with WSOP Europe returning to King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, from November 19 – December 8.
The complete schedule of the 2021 WSOP will be announced at a later date, but the Main Event will return from November 4 – 17 with four starting days. The opening weekend will include three new events to the series; a special charity event to benefit frontline health workers, a $25,000 H.O.R.S.E., and The Reunion tournament which will be a $5 million guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em tournament.
Specific COVID-19 safety protocols will be implemented according to gaming regulations, and they will be announced closer to the 2021 WSOP.
“This year, more than ever, we embrace our role at the WSOP to deliver memorable experiences and bring this community of poker lovers back together. In 2021, the theme is, get vaccinated and get back to Vegas,” said Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive Director.
WSOP Europe will return to King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, from November 19 – December 8. In 2019 there were a total of 15 events with Alexandros Kolonias winning the Main Event for over €1.13 million. For WSOP Europe 2021, the 15-event schedule will feature the €10,000 buy-in Main Event and a €50,000 buy-in High Roller.
“We hope and anticipate travel restrictions will ease by the fall,” said Stewart. “It’s important to us that we have an excellent tournament schedule available to our European players.”
Following the success of WSOP Online in 2020 that awarded roughly $175 million on both WSOP.com and GGPoker, the series will return in 2021. The complete schedule will be announced on April 15, but the WSOP Online series on WSOP.com will begin on July 1, and close with the $1,000 Championship event.
