Dylan Weisman Goes Wire-To-Wire To Capture 4th PGT Title of the Season in Event #2: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty

Dylan Weisman went wire to wire with the chip lead, eliminating all five of his final table opponents to collect $107,000 in bounties and capture the title in Event #2: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty presented by PLO Mastermind. 

The win marks Weisman's fourth overall PGT title of 2024, the second in the Omaha Specialist's signature discipline, and the fifteenth total cash, bringing him to just north of $1.5 million in earnings for the season. 

Weisman came into the day with just under 40 percent of the chips in play, and despite doubling Sean Winter on the day's first hand, he quickly added to his stack early and often. 

The first big chunk of chips that went Weisman's way came courtesy of Daniel Negreanu, as his turned top two pair was no match for Weisman's flopped set. Negreanu failed to improve on the river and was out the door in sixth place for $23,850 plus an additional $10,000 in bounties. 

Weisman kept the pressure going from there as he held a commanding chip lead, allowing him to handcuff the middling stack of Richard Gryko effectively. Gryko, to his credit, was able to chip up in a bizarre hand with Bruno Furth when he exposed his hand on the turn, thinking Furth was all in.

Gryko's top set crushed Furth's two pair of aces and deuces and, after getting away from the cooler, found a quadruple up a few hands later to score a ladder when John Riordan's short stack was sent home in fifth place by Weisman's turned wheel. Riordan collected $28,620 for the fifth-place effort plus $13,000 in bounties. 

Furth would see no further ladders as he took a stand with pocket jacks, only for Weisman to find trip kings on the turn to send him home in fourth place for $35,775 and $12,000 in bounties along the way. Winter would see a triple in the same hand. Furth hit the payout window, starting a trend of doubles to keep him in the tournament. 

Winter would then come from behind to find a pair of doubles, both courtesy of Weisman, to pull even with Gryko for second in chips before his pocket aces would crumble to Weisman's turned two pair, sending the Florida Pro home in third place for $47,000. Winter also collected $12,000 in bounties along the way to boost his cash. 

Weisman took eighty percent of the chips into the heads-up match and, despite a double from Gryko, continued to pour on the pressure he had shown the entire day, eventually whitling Gryko down around 20 big blinds. 

Gryko opened pocket queens and got his stack into the middle on an eight-high board, but Weisman had flopped top set, leaving Gryko two outs to stay alive. Gryko failed to connect on the turn or river and was sent home in second place for $88,245 plus $17,000 in bounties.

Lautaro Guerra Still Leads in the Race for the PGT PLO Series Title

Despite the win for Weisman, he still trails Event #1 winner Lautaro Guerra by 24 points in the race for the overall series title. Event #2 attracted four more entrants than Event #1, but with the bounties in play, the winner was awarded fewer overall PGT points. 

With 159 hopefuls stepping inside the PokerGo Studio, a prize pool of $795,000 was created, with the top 23 players taking home a piece plus any bounties they could score along the way. Finnish PLO specialist Samuli Sipila was the unfortunate bubble after Gryko's set of eights bested his turned nut flush draw. 

Despite the twenty-three available spots to be paid, no one could find their second cash of the series, and the field remains wide open as the race for the top spot on the leaderboard heats up. 

PGT regulars Jim Colloy (8th), Matthew Wantman (9th), Bryce Yockey (11th), Jeremy Ausmus (14th), and Issac Kempton (22nd) all picked up their first cash of the series and have now put themselves in contention for the added prize money.
